CPO Magazine: Proactive vs Responsive AI: Which One Protects Against Major Modern Adversaries in Cybersecurity?
January 14, 2021 – MixMode CTO and Chief Scientist, Igor Mezic, recently contributed an article for CPO Magazine that examines the evolution of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within cybersecurity, the three waves of AI, and the modern-day application of predictive AI in cybersecurity to protect against adversaries who are also utilizing AI technology.
Igor Mezic, MixMode CTO and Chief Scientist, Earns J.D. Crawford Prize
March 3, 2021 – MixMode CTO and Chief Scientist, Igor Mezić, has received the prestigious J.D. Crawford Prize from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). The prize is awarded every two years to one individual for a significant accomplishment in the area of nonlinear science. Dr. Mezic received the award for his mathematical theory that makes it easier to understand and speed up an array of previously unsolvable computations in a wide range of applications, including fluid dynamics, energy-efficient design, network security and operations, and complex systems dynamics.
MixMode Featured In Latest Gartner® Report on Emerging Trends in Network Detection and Response
August 17, 2021 – MixMode announced today their inclusion in the 2021 Gartner report, ‘Emerging Trends: Top Use Cases for Network Detection and Response.’ The report, available only to Gartner users, provides in depth analysis on the top four use cases driving the NDR market including detection, hunting, forensics and response, as well as NDR development recommendations for product leaders.
Gartner defines Network Detection and Response in this report as a platform, “That uses a combination of machine learning (ML), advanced analytics and rule-based matching to detect anomalous and suspicious activities on enterprise networks. NDR solutions continuously analyze traffic — either rawpackets or flow-based data (metadata) — to baseline normal behavior. When NDR tools detect deviations from these baselines in the form of abnormal traffic patterns, and after predicting whether the anomaly is a security risk, they raise alerts.”
DarkReading: Superhero Loki Lurks Like a Zero-Day Threat
September 1, 2021 – Recently, MixMode’s Head of Federal, Matt Shea, wrote an article for DarkReading titled, “Superhero Loki Lurks Like a Zero-Day Threat.” The following is an excerpt from that article:
The Marvel creation may just be the perfect example of a zero-day attack with no signature.
Loki on Disney+ is a fun new show that pulls back the curtain on the new multiverse aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with infinite timelines where almost anything that could happen has happened somewhere. It gives fans the “What if?” of many comic book conversations over the years: What if this character got away with the infinity stones? What if that event never happened, or the bad guys won? You get the picture.
All this timeline chaos apparently doesn’t sit well with the newly introduced Time Variance Authority (TVA), which is empowered to remove all the characters behaving differently than the desired, sacred timeline. Let’s call this timeline the baseline of outcomes that are supposed to happen in the eyes of the TVA. Anyone not falling in line with that is considered a “variant” that shall be removed, or “pruned” from the timeline.
MixMode Joins 5G Open Innovation Lab, Bringing Self-Learning AI to the 5G Ecosystem
September 20, 2021 – MixMode, the leader in AI-driven, real-time anomaly detection for Cybersecurity, has formally joined the 5G Open Innovation Lab’s (“5GOILab”) Fall 2021 program. The Lab is supported by its founding and corporate partners which include Amdocs, Dell Technologies, F5, Intel, Microsoft, NASA, T-Mobile and VMware. Read the press release from 5G Labs here announcing the fall cohort.
“5G is at the forefront of growth for connectivity, and with this new technology and speed comes new cybersecurity needs,” said John Keister, CEO of MixMode. “Legacy cybersecurity tools have no solution for monitoring and effectively protecting environments in which massive volumes of data are being managed like 5G. MixMode’s unique innovation in self-learning AI is the solution necessary to tackle this problem.”
